/ UCalgary / Staff Lunch & Unlearn: Drug Education 101: Myths, Fears, & Facts

October 12th, 2023

When it comes to young people and substances, “we need better education,” is a popular view. But what do we know about what works in drug education? Come to this free session with a youth substance use researcher and hear more about why approaches like “Just Say No,” and fear-based messaging fail to resonate with youth, and why “the best prevention has very little to do with drugs alone.”

Dr. Rebecca Haines-Saah, PhD, an Associate Professor in the
Department of Community Health Sciences, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, is a public health sociologist with research interests in youth drug use, harm reduction approaches to substance use, and drug policy reform.

All UCalgary Faculty and Staff welcome!
